It's Your Choice: The Practical Guide to Planning a Funeral
Published in Paperback by Amer Assn Retired Persons (May, 1984)
Average review score:

It's Your Choice: the practical guide to planning a funeralAlthough this is a sentisive subject which none of us wish to approach we all have to face it sometimes and this book helps to ease the way. It's easy to read format and practical approach helps you to understand how the funeral industry works and what they have to offer as well as the rules and regulations that govern this industry. It gives you practical suggestions on how to approach choosing the right funeral arrangements for your needs as well as your pocket book and is very frank about the industry you are dealing with. It talks about the disposal of the remains, the different options that you have in purchasing the proper containers (urns, or coffins) for the remains of your loved one and covers, in a general way, the various costs of these items. It also discusses the alternate ways of planning a funeral as well as various organizations that you may contact for help. The back of the book consists of a series of check lists which you can use to help you in the planning and arranging of the funeral, whether it be a pre-planned funeral or an immediate one. I felt this book was well worth having in my library.

John Steuart Curry: Inventing the Middle West
Published in Paperback by Elvehjem Art Center (March, 1998)
Average review score:

Definitive Tribute to an Important American ArtistAt last, John Curry has a book in print worthy of his art. Ms. Junker has suceeded in paying a noble yet sadly overdue tribute to this unique and often neglected artist. Curry's paintings capture the emotion and natural force of American scenes in a way that was very much his own. Works like "Tornado over Kansas" and the scene of John Brown in "A Tragic Prelude" embody some of the greatest expressions of conflict to be found in American art.

KJV New Strong's Reference Bible
Published in Hardcover by Thomas Nelson (September, 2002)
Average review score:

Complete Concordance in a KJV BibleIt seems that the concordances that are bound together with study Bibles are never quite thorough enough. In the interest of size, the concordances are abridged to the point that they will find some passages that I'm looking for, but never all of them. So I wondered if anyone printed a KJV Bible that contained a complete concordance.
After a year or two of being told that such a Bible didn't exist because it would be too bulky, or being told that such Bibles did exist and then finding them to be inadequate, I stumbled across this one. This is what I was looking for.
If I have any complaint with this Bible, it is that the pages are thin (of, course) while the typeface is not. The result is that a bit more print shadow shows through the page than I'm accustomed to in a compact Bible. This tends to muddy the text and make it somewhat harder to read.
Still, Lord willing, this Bible will see many years of use in church and Sunday school.

Lamidi Olonade Fakeye: A Retrospective Exhibition and Autobiography
Published in Paperback by University of Washington Press (June, 1997)
Average review score:

Essential reading for those interested in Yoruba artistsNot only does this book contain critical information not found anywhere else but it is written in a style true to the artist himself and the Yoruba oral tradition. If you are a carver you will find valuable information that relates to the process traditionally trained Yoruba carvers use to do their work as well as technical information about wood and tools. It is also valuable for the scholar intersted in the social status of the artist in Yorubaland before Europeans and how this particular artis has come into his own since colonialism and independence. But most importantly it was written by the artist himslef and is true to his personality. This type of document is rarely written by a person of Lamidi Fakeye's experience and status in Yoruba carving. This book reflects on the past while being rooted in the present situation of a Nigerian artist today.
